Downloading Worship Music

My Heart for Sharing Worship Music with the Nations

I've had this website going for quite a few years, and I've made it a priority to share as much worship music for free download as I can get my hands on. I post my devotional worship sets from the IHOP Prayer Room every time I get the opportunity, and sometimes I'll post other worship leader's audio with permission. Doing this takes time, money for hosting, and some effort, but I have heard so much feedback from people all around the world who have been blessed by being able to download long-play worship sessions, burn them to cd's, make playlists, share with their friends. The most precious letters I've received are from missionaries and people in countries restricted to Christian activities and people who are unable to gather together with other Christians in congressional worship. For these, the ability to download and own worship music in the music library is vital.

Some worship leaders may be worried about their spontaneously composed un-copyrighted music being "stolen", or potentially losing money from people not buying their actual albums. I have found both of those to NOT be the case. I do have a "real" studio-recorded album, and I've chosen to not give it away for free. I don't feel condemned about charging a industry-competitive price for my album. it wasn't free for me to make, even though I did receive financial help to make it. Duplication and distribution costs exist, and that's just the way things are. But providing free downloads of my live worship recordings have allowed people to get to know my worship before paying for it, and have provided worship content for those who actually can't afford to purchase an album.

It has always been on my heart to encourage other worship leaders at IHOP and other places to provide free downloads of their long-play worship sessions. As a worship leader, there are fears associated with it, some of which I've mentioned. Others are based on insecurities about having your raw, un-produced music archived for the world to hear. And those are real fears. I've posted worship sessions that I personally can't listen to because I think my voice sounds awful, or I hate that I make goofs on the piano (which I do every single time.) Or maybe I flubbed my words somewhere in the middle of it. But that's just life, and I've come to realize that in my priestly ministry before the Lord - ministering to His heart, ministering to His people, I just can't afford to get hung up on that kind of stuff. I can either do a set at IHOP that exists live, and in an archived environment on the website (that I'm blessed to say I had a part in pioneering), but drops into oblivion in 2 weeks, or I could share on my website where thousands of people can download it and potentially be blessed, and enter into greater relationship with Jesus over and over again. That's so worth it to me.

Petition

So I'm putting this petition out there, and I'd like to hear from you. As a worshipper or worship leader. I've encouraged every single worship leader to make their own website like mine, but in reality, that can be too difficult and time consuming for someone who isn't as tech-savvy as I am. I thought about hosting mp3's here on this website, which I can do - but I know some people may be concerned that I would be personally benefitting from posting that kind of content, which I'd probably be concerned about if I were them - or maybe they think I write stuff they don't want to be associated with....

Addressing Concerns

To address these concerns, I'm going to put together a unique website, which I'll let you know more about. I'm going to manage it myself, but it's not going to have pictures of my dogs at the top, or girly flowers, or personal stuff. It's going to be something generic like "Worship Music Library." It's not going to be IHOP-specific, but I am going to personally petition every worship leader at IHOP to give me a "yes" or "no" regarding putting up the live worship recordings they provide. I'm also going to ask some other awesome worship leaders that I know to contribute. I'll put up links on their worship content to a website they run, or an album they have so if you were blessed by a free download, you can buy their album, but's it's not going to be about crazy advertising or money generation, it's going to be about exalting Jesus, ministering to His heart, and His people.

I Need Your Help

This is where I need your help. Please "sign the petition" by putting your name in the comments section so that I can show other worship leaders just how helpful this would be, and how much interest there is in it. Also include comments like the worship leaders you'd like to hear, or how you've been blessed by downloading live spontaneous worship.

If you're a worship leader with content to contribute your music, I want to personally hear from you. Check out this contact form.
For His glory,

Devotions

Yes!! I have throughly enjoyed and have been encouraged by your 2 hour August Devotion. It is absolutely my favorite worship set. I play it all the time. You are an anointed musician. I am so thankful for worship leaders like you that touch the heart of God. You and the other musicians at IHOP such a great example to others, like my 20 yr old son.

yes yes yes free free free!!!

yes yes yes amen amen!! Everbody loves free stuff, especially missionaries and people who dont have alot of money, so may all of Ihop hop on board and spread their music all over the earth to release worship and change atmospheres and break open the heavens. I love spontaneous and prophetic music, I thrive on it, and an end time generation where God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh and sons and daughters are prophesying, they will thrive and survive on it. There is a River in the music at Ihop and Jesus in Heaven wants it to touch all, So may singers and musicians release. As for money, when you freely give your music to touch the bride and the sons and daughters God will for sure release favor on your life and make sure that you have all the provision that is needed for your time of soujourning on earth, God loves to provide, money should never be a question, Heaven and earth is the Lords. HalleluJah, so lets start a free music revolution. amen

Yes, please do continue to provide free spontaneous music for download. In the past, I've heard something here that I was able to past on to a friend in a time of personal need. I am now in a time of deep personal need and a set that you uploaded "One Thirst" has been a musical salve to my soul. Without it, I wouldn't heard just the thing at the right time to keep me upright and moving on. And believe me, I am not being dramatic. God works in ways that we never will understand this side of Heaven. Yes, what we give to others freely will be given back to us freely. God will take care of the sells of Studio albums.

YES!!!

Joanna, I have been SO blessed by all the worship sets you've posted. You are one of my favorite worship leaders at IHOP; and like you mentioned, webstream sessions go into oblivion after a few weeks. I love having your sets downloaded, and they've blessed me tremendously in my devotional times. I've hoped at times that other worship leaders at IHOP would do something similar, so it's absolutely incredible that you are going to be starting a site where you post content from other worship leaders. You are such a blessing!!

YES!

I love being able to download worship sets. They are what i mainly listen to. I had a rough year and all i listened to was Misty Devos from 2008 and it was really really good to me. Now i have been listening to a lot of Joanna Devos and i absolutley love them and am very blessed to be able to download them

Love this idea!

My husband and I just returned from two years in China. I can attest to the blessing of freely available resources in foreign countries. I've really appreciated the music you've made available for download on your website (though this is my first time posting!).

Free to Play!

As someone who had a long Developer background, I enjoy open source and hope that music will one day have an "open source" arena. So yes!

YES!!!

Every so often I'll pull out Total Recorder or even do the analog recording to another device (depending on which machine I'm on). The spontaneous stuff is really what I love ... Lisa G. did one a couple years back on "faith" (it has encouraged me over and over) and a set that I was actually IN the GPR that Laura H. did back last June 2010 has blessed me over and over and over and over. Doesn't matter if it was WOTW or Intercession ... it's right out of the throne room stuff!!!, so THUMBS UP!!!

Yes, I would love to download worship music so I could put it on my google cloud and not be tied to the computer for worship. The long awaited Android Prayer Room App would also be nice; hint, hint. It disappeared from the app store. Can I still use the download from the beta group? I love everyone out there at IHOP and have been blessed by a few that have given us access to music that we can download, like you, Tim Cone, Austin Roberts, and Richy Clark. It is so nice to be able to use the music in corporate worship and not be tied to a computer. I just was in Canton,OH and experienced some of the Canton HOP worship and have caught some of the IHOP-Atlanta worship and would love to be able to listen to both of those again.

Yes!!!!

When I first found your page years ago i was so blessed to discover the music and live worship you provided. Having the opportunity to download for use in my car or iPod has been one of the things I often tell others about. I discovered Laura Woodley Osman, heather Clark, Misty Edwards, Audra Lynn and Laura Hacket as some of my favorite leaders because of your website and generosity. I now buy stuff from you and from them because the Lord prompts me to support your ministry knowing I now have the means. But there are often live sessions that are so soaked in the Lords presence that it can't be recreated in a studio to allow me to buy it. It's for those times that I would love the opportunity to download so I can soak in His love away from my desk! I would use sets like that to introduce those who are unaware of how strong and powerful worship can be to it. So I answer your petition with a resounding YES!!!

I love to go to your website please, keep providing the worship sets. I LOVE to linger in His presence and it's awesome to be able to download music and listen to a long set over and over again! I always support IHOP when new CDs come out because when your in the Kingdom, it's about prospering the Kingdom. Sowing into a CD is a way that I can give back and the Kingdom grows.

It would be great to be able to download archives of worship! That's why we bought your album. We had been greatly encouraged by your devos that you had posted on the site, and we wanted more (and wanted to support you!). Thank you for encouraging other leaders to do the same!

Yes please!

This would be a brilliant idea which I'm sure I would make great use of. There have been three IHOP sessions in recent weeks that I so wish I could have saved — they really impacted me. And, as noted in earlier comments, the possibility of being introduced to other non-IHOP stuff sounds great! Please do pursue this. It's a really splendid idea!

Let us download!

I am totally on board: I would LOVE to be able to re-listen to more sets than the 6 that were chosen over the past 2 months for the LE.
Jacquie's picture

yes, Yes, YES!!!

Absolutely, 100% count me in on this petition! We love listening to sets from the prayer room & sometimes there are certain ones that just bless you & you want to play them longer than they are available in the archives or to have on your mp3 player. Even our kids would love this as they often request certain songs or worship leaders that they've come to love from the prayer room. As for non-IHOP worship leaders, it would be great to get introduced to some new music from a free resource that would give us a taste of some music that we might then be interested in purchasing.

Joanna, your music has really blessed my family and I over the years, and this would be such a blessing to me. I would love to have mote of Jon Thurlow's sets. We've been slowly acquiring the back catalog of Limited Edition recordings, but that's expensive, and I like some of his longer spontaneous stuff. Also Davy Flowers, I LOVE the way she re-dresses old hymns and...well, her sets are phenomenal. I could listen to Jon and Davy all day long. I'll ask my wife to chime in as well.
